Are Premium Paints Worth the Extra Money?
March 22, 2022How to Pressure Wash Your Home’s Exterior
April 25, 2022Spring is here, and now is a great time to refresh your home. Doing a big purge to clean for spring is not the only way you can perk up your living space. Adding a fresh coat of paint to your walls can do a lot to transform the same room into one that feels new and interesting. All it takes is learning which colors work best for which reasons. You will be able to pick the perfect shade to perk up any room in your home.
The Colors
A classic springtime palette includes plenty of pastels and lighter colors, but these do not always translate well when you paint them on the walls. What you should keep in mind is that each color has various shades to select from. Even if you are not a fan of a certain color, you can explore the different shades until you see something you like at the paint store. Bringing home swatches allows you to envision what your room will look like before you open a can of paint.
The best colors to use during springtime are lilac, light blue, eucalyptus green, yellow, and peach. All of these colors are a reminder of the weather getting warmer and add a great dynamic to your home. Although you do not need to choose them all to transform your space, you can select one or two that you can build on.
Their Purposes
Light colors such as yellow and peach are great for opening up the space and making the room appear brighter. Since they are on the warm side, they reflect sunlight which creates a comforting effect. Even in various shades, these two are going to make any room seem spacious and inviting.
Lilac, light blue, and eucalyptus green are bolder colors that serve a different purpose. These shades make for great accent walls if you are unsure of painting the entire room. They can also add depth and dimension to the space. They are on the cool side, so be cautious if you are working with a small space. Painting the whole room might be too overwhelming.
The Rooms
If you are going with a warm color, this is most suitable for a living room or kitchen. These are two rooms that usually have ample sunlight and do well with a hint of color. The great thing is you can paint an accent wall to test out the color beforehand. If you like it enough, do the rest!
The cool colors are great for spaces that are more private and dynamic. Examples would be a bathroom or a bedroom. You usually do not mind feeling slightly more closed off because you are actually using these spaces as retreats rather than spots to gather.
Of course, you are welcome to play around with your color palette until you are happy with the look of it. Using these examples to help you might allow you to see a vision you never knew existed. This guide will help you select the perfect palette for springtime. Whether you just want to paint an accent wall or all of the rooms in your house, you can use this to make the right selection.
