Superbowl Service Day: Making a Difference with Paint
Local painting company brings national project to the Portland Metro
Tigard, OR: Jeff Sommers, President of ESP Painting, is bringing a national movement called Paint It Forward to Portland. The first recipient of $3000+ in painting services is Brittany. After a string of deaths in the family, including her fiancé 3 weeks before their wedding, and waiting on much-needed updates while battling through the probate system, Brittany is finally able to call the house home for herself and her son. Brittany works 2 jobs to make ends meet and keep up with the mortgage so ESP Painting will repaint the basement area to bring in some rental income and brighten up their living space. Brittany’s steadfastness in the face of adversity is why our crew chose her and her family for our Winter 2016 Paint It Forward project! On February 6th, our company painters and a group of volunteers will bring paint donated by Sherwin-Williams to their home and transform it.
Regarding why he felt drawn to the campaign, Jeff says “I chose the Paint It Forward campaign because it was the easiest way to make a positive impact on our community.” Ami Ericson, operations manager, agrees. “We are really good at painting, the quality is high and our painters can get a lot done in a short time. Paint It Forward is a natural fit as a way for ESP to give back.” Talking about involving others in the process, Jeff says, “Our community is involved, too. Our clients nominate people and organizations in need, our employees choose the recipients, our paint suppliers donate paint, and we invite our clients and community to help. Everyone is uplifted and our community thrives!”
February 6th will be ESP’s first day of service, dubbed Superbowl Service Day, complete with lunch donated by Buffalo Wild Wings. One of the reasons the ESP Painting employees chose Brittany’s family is because her family has lived in their house in Southwest Portland for 40+ years. It belonged to Brittany’s grandparents, who raised many foster children and worked to bring orphans to the USA for adoption. Ami feels “Bringing the community together as a family is the best way to make a difference.”
ESP Painting’s mission is “to exceed customer expectations through our craftsmanship, knowledge and attention to detail.” Jeff has worked in the trade his entire life, beginning as a youth on his grandparents’ house. ESP has provided high-quality house painting to the Portland area since 1996.
