Should You Ever Consider Using Wallpaper? If So, When?
May 11, 2020Chances are when you think of rooms in your home that accentuate your overall décor, your bathroom isn’t the first space that comes to mind. We tend to be pretty mum about our bathrooms, viewing it as a utilitarian space. However, beautifying your boudoir has the potential to be one of the boldest decorating moves you can make. Adding color and life to your bathroom is certainly a challenge, but it’s in rising to meet challenges that we show off the true extent of our abilities.
Painting your bathroom can be a great way of adding some much-needed elegance without having to spend a ton of money on bathroom fixtures. That begs the question – which bathroom colors are best, and what can each do to help make the space come alive?
Color #1: Taupe
One of the first things you’ll want to decide when choosing your bathroom’s color scheme is what kind of mood you’re going for. For example, taupe is perfect for those looking for a calm, neutral vibe with a modern twist. There is enough variation here to allow you to be a bit creative, and it lets you avoid something more basic and boring such as dull gray or white, which can also be a bit too bright and overpowering with the lights turned on. By contrast, taupe is light without being blinding.
Color #2 Charcoal
On the other hand, maybe you’re looking to give your bathroom a bit more of a brooding, romantic look. If so, charcoal accents can be a great way to add flavor and personality to your bathroom. What’s more, while this is a darker color, it is still bright enough to appear warm with the lights flicked on. Add to that the fact this is a less common bathroom paint color choice, and going with charcoal can be a great way of helping your bathroom décor really stand out.
Color #3: Light Blue or Green
On the other hand, while innovation is great, why mess with a classic? Both light green and blue are among the most classic and enduringly popular choices for bathroom paint colors, and with good reason. They are bright without being blinding, they make more of a statement than greys or taupe, and they give the space a calming vibe while still having personality. Light greens make us think of nature, while light blue evokes the sky, both being great palette choices for this space.
Color #4: Creamy Colors
If you’re looking for a lovely light, warm vibe without having things come across as cold and clinical as is the case with white paint, warm cream colors can be a great compromise. Creams and butters also pair well with light accent colors such as lavender. Light colors also work well with detailing, so you can use this as a warm base and then add painted shapes and figures over it to transform your bathroom space into a stunning canvas for your creativity.
These bathroom colors can breathe new life into the most overlooked element of your home décor.
